DMNexa: From Conversations to Structured Orders

A product engineering case study — DMNexa is designed, built, and operated by PixelPlugins.

The problem

Social sellers and home businesses often run their entire order process through Instagram DMs. That works fine at low volume and breaks down fast at higher volume: orders get missed, details get misread, and sellers end up doing manual data entry against their own conversation history.

What we built

DMNexa is an AI agent that sits on top of a seller's existing conversations. It reads incoming Instagram messages automatically, uses AI to extract order details from unstructured, conversational text, and produces a draft order — not a final one. The seller reviews and confirms before anything is committed, which keeps a human in the loop on exactly the step that needs one.

Why it's built this way

We designed DMNexa around the same principle we apply to every AI agent build: the AI proposes, a person confirms. That's why it always routes through the same draft-then-review flow on Instagram, instead of auto-confirming orders directly from a chat parse.

Technologies

Cross-platform app (iOS, Android, and web) with a Node.js API, PostgreSQL, Firebase for auth and hosting, Google Cloud Task queues for background processing, and Stripe for subscription billing.
